Our homeschool routine and rhythm have varied greatly over the years and through our many seasons of life.
I’ve had to tweak our routine several times since the beginning of our school year. And I will undoubtedly tweak it many more times before the year is done to accommodate changing work schedules, sports, and new activities.
But for now, we have finally settled into a routine that works really well for us in this season.
One of the many perks of homeschooling is – you can do it whenever.
Our homeschool week runs Wednesday-Sunday.
We tailor our week to my husband’s work schedule. This way we can focus on family time when dad is home without worrying about lessons and schoolwork.
It is so important for homeschool families to know that your homeschool routine should work for you – not the other way around.
Our current Fall homeschool routine
- 8:00 am Morning Work
- 8:30 am Language Arts or Math
- 9:00 am Big Kid Break/Preschool Lesson
- 9:30 am Nature Study
- 10:30 am Outside or Free time
- 12:00 pm Lunch and History
- 1:00 pm Art
**All times are approximate. We don’t start or end our lessons at any specific time, except for Wednesday and Thursday.
Wednesday and Thursday we end our day early at 9:00 am to meet up with friends or attend our co-op.
Friday-Sunday are full school days.
See our full curriculum line up for this year here.
The goal is to keep our days slow and simple.
I do aim to start our school day at 8:00 am, but I won’t rush the kids to start.
Most days they are up early and ready to go, but if not, I will let them sleep in and we will begin after breakfast.
Make your homeschool work for you.
And remember: keep it slow and simple.
