Use oven-dried citrus rounds to make your own homemade ornaments or decor. (They also make a beautiful addition to winter simmer pots!)
Jump to RecipeWhether it’s strung into garland, made into ornaments, or added to simmer pots, oven dried citrus rounds are a beautiful addition to your home in the winter.
And they are really quite easy to make!
Here’s what you need:
- Assorted citrus fruits
- Knife or mandoline
- Baking tray
- Parchment paper or silicone baking mat
Here’s what you do:
- Preheat your oven to 200°F.
- Pick your variety of citrus. Lemon, oranges, grapefruit, and limes are all fun to try and will give you a beautiful color variety.
- Slice them to about 1/4 inch thick. I liked to use my mandolin for this step to create the perfect uniformed slices. Please use caution when using your mandolin slicer. I’ve taken off my fingertips too many times.
- Place the citrus rounds in a single layer on a baking tray lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Place them into the oven and bake for about 2.5 hours. Flipping the citrus rounds every 30 minutes.
- Once completely dry, let the citrus rounds cool on a baking rack.
