This rosewater has been the perfect addition to my skincare routine. It leaves my skin feeling refreshed and the smell is absolutely divine.

Combined with this homemade lavender oil, I feel like a goddess when getting ready for the day.

Note: While true rose water is made by distilling fresh rose petals; this is a simple and effective way to make rosewater at home.

The following recipe for homemade rosewater is adopted from Rosemary Gladstar’s book Herbal Healing for Women.

How to Make Homemade Rosewater

Here’s what you need:

Here’s what you do:

  1. Add the rose petals into the mason jar.
  2. Make a mixture that is 3/4 parts witch hazel and 1/4 part distilled water.
  3. Pour the mixture over the rose petals covering them completely with an additional 2-3 inches of liquid above the petals.
  4. Cover the jar and allow the mixture to sit for 2-3 in a dark area shaking every day.
  5. Strain the mixture using a strainer lined with cheesecloth and bottle for use.

  • pint size wide mouth mason jar
  • strainer
  • cheesecloth
  • glass mist spray bottle

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup dried rose petals
  • witch hazel
  • distilled water
