This no-cook dandelion playdough recipe is so quick and easy to make. It is the perfect spring time sensory activity the kids will love.
I stopped buying the real playdough a couple years back when I started down the homemade rabbit hole.
After stumbling upon the easiest no-cook recipe that was it – no more store-bought playdough.
We’ve tried various versions of this playdough to fit the seasons or our current unit study.
This week we studied dandelions!
We had just picked a bunch of dandelion flowers to study and do lessons with outside.
So we took those left over flowers inside to make some homemade dandelion playdough.
Here’s what you need:
- 1 handful dandelion flowers
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup salt
- 1 tbs cream of tarter
- 2 tbs oil (vegetable or baby oil)
Here’s what you do:
Start by mixing all of your dry ingredients (minus the flowers) into a large mixing bowl and set aside.
Add the dandelions into a blender. (It’s ok if there’s stems.) Pour the boiling water in next and pulse until the dandelions are pretty unrecognizable.
Pour the dandelion and water mixture in the dry ingredients and stir until it becomes a shaggy dough then add the oil.
Stir again and then turn to kneading it by hand until it is fully mixed together and feel like a playdough consistency.
You may need to add more flour of the dough is too sticky.
And that’s it! Grab a bunch of tools and have fun!
