Homeschooling should feel natural, engaging, and joyful-not stressful and rigid.
When I discovered The Organic Studies in our second year of homeschooling, it completely transformed the way I taught my children. Suddenly our days were filled with curiosity, connection, and excitement instead of worksheets and dry textbooks.
If you’re looking for a homeschool curriculum that blends science, nature, reading, and art into a beautifully designed learning experience, The Organic Studies might be exactly what you need.

Why We Love The Organic Studies
1. Flexibility
The Organic Studies offers 34 weeks of engaging, hands-on lessons that are broken down into 26 nature-based units.
The units can be completed in any order, so you can decide what lessons you want to do and when depending on the season or your child’s interests.

2. Thorough, easy to follow lesson plans
The lesson plans are simple and easy to follow. Every lesson includes questions and areas of discussion to help guide the lessons.
3. Family style learning
The Organic Studies is recommended for elementary children ages 5-12 , making it perfect for teaching multiple children of different ages at the same time.
Having a large family, it is a huge plus that I can teach all of my children from the same curriculum, the same lessons, at the same time!
Also, while the curriculum has a recommended age, it may be used for older or younger children depending on the needs of the child.
4. Four days of lessons
The Organic Studies is made up of four days of lessons with a fifth day that includes suggested movement activities or field trip ideas.
A four-day school week gives us the flexibility we need as a homeschool family to attend co-op or have play dates without worrying about missing or trying to fit in lessons.
5. Charlotte Mason inspired book lists
You will not find any twaddle here!
All book selections in the curriculum are high-quality, informational (and some fictional) books most with beautiful, detailed artwork.
We have discovered so many books from the provided booklists that have now become treasured favorites. And we also have a shelf full of amazing core books.
Check out the full list of core books for The Organic Studies here.
6. Secular (and non-secular)
The Organic Studies is, by itself, a secular curriculum. However, there is an option to add on a religious component.
The Word Studies is available to use along with The Organic Studies if you wish to easily incorporate a biblical view to their homeschool.
7. A ton of extras
Every unit has a long list of additional books, activities, and other resources for further investigation.
When my kids dive deep into a lesson and are yearning for more, I have all pre-screened extras right at my fingertips.
If you’re ready to bring more joy and hands-on learning into your homeschool, The Organic Studies is a perfect choice. With flexible lesson plans, rich literature, and engaging nature-based activities, this curriculum will inspire both you and your children.
