If you already started making the switch to more natural products, you probably noticed that naturally made, toxin-free products don’t come cheap. Especially when compared to their chemical laden competitors.

And for this reason, somethings I buy, and other things – other thing I like to make.

I’m a huge fan for anything that is homemade, especially if it’s made with natural ingredients.

This toxin-free toilet cleaner is simple and inexpensive to make, and since you’re making it, you know exactly what kind of ingredients are in it. – Natural ingredients.

So there’s absolutely no handling toxic chemicals while cleaning your toilet. Plus the fizzing is pretty cool.

Here’s what you need:

Here’s what to do:

To start, pour the baking soda and citric acid into a bowl and stir.

Add in 30 drops of essential oils to the mix and stir well. You can use whatever scents you enjoy. Switch it up for the seasons or try a new combination in every batch.

The two oils I prefer are wild orange and tea tree. They are both antimicrobials and I really do enjoy the citrusy scent.

I’ve used peppermint during the in place of the wild orange which also leaves a nice, clean scent.

Next, stir in the castile soap while slowly (and I’m really emphasizing slowly here) drizzling it into the mixture.

If you pour it in too fast the soap will make the mixture fizz and start to rise.

If the mixture starts to rise, the finished toilet tablet won’t fizz.

It will turn into a hard hockey puck and not break up at all when you drop it into the toilet. Yes – it has happened to me.

Please pour the soap slowly.

If the mixture holds together after squeezing it in your hand, you’re doing great. If it doesn’t add in a tiny bit more castile soap until it does.

Next, spoon the mixture out evenly into the silicone molds and firmly press it in.

You can use any shape mold you want for your fizzers.

I like this mini muffin silicon mold. It makes the perfect sized tablet shape.

Let them dry completely before attempting to pop them out of the molds. This will take about 12 hours or so. I usually leave them to dry over night.

Once they are fully dry, store them in an airtight container of your liking. I like these swing top containers I got from amazon.

When you’re ready to use one, just drop it into the toilet bowl and let the fizzing begin! The fizzing action will do some of the cleaning and also leave your bathroom smelling fresh.
